Job Summary
The role holder is responsible for providing support to assess nutrition related issues of patients and implement nutrition care plans to prevent and treat disease.
Key Duties
- Assess patients’ nutritional needs to determine plans to prevent and treat disease.
- Provide dietary/nutritional counselling/advice to in-patients with diet related conditions like diabetics, hypertensive, obese, malnutrition, etc. to improve on their health status.
- Monitor the preparation of food to ensure compliance with prescribed diet.
- Collect, collate and analyse nutrition data to inform the development of nutrition treatment plan for patients.
- Conduct research to improve the nutritional value, taste, appearance and preparation of food.
- Provide support for educational and sensitisation programmes and activities for health care workers,
- including workers in the Antenatal care units, to provide them with basic knowledge in nutrition.
Requirements
Education
A minimum of Masters degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, or related discipline from a recognized University.
Skills & Competencies
- Oral and written communication skills;
- Basic knowledge of the techniques needed to develop meal plans;

- Interpersonal skills;
- Detail orientation.
- Basic understanding of how nutrition affects the body and how different health conditions require different nutritional approaches;
